C&I is proud to premiere the music video for “The Ballad Of Righteous And Wrong.”
In the grand tradition of “Tom Dooley,” “Don’t Take Your Guns to Town,” “Red-Headed Stranger” and “Frankie and Johnny” comes a new addition to the “murder ballad” genre, “The Ballad of Righteous and Wrong.” Set for release this weekend, it’s the latest single from Wanted Man, North Carolina-raised and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Trey Calloway’s well-received debut album.
Some of Calloway’s fellow country artists are already heaping praise upon the song. As well they should.
“Trey Calloway hit a home run with ‘The Ballad Of Righteous And Wrong,’” says country icon Moe Bandy. “He painted the perfect portrait of the old Wild West that most of us haven’t heard in years. I heard it for the first time backstage at the Grand Ole Opry and have never forgotten it!”

Written by Calloway, Greg Wilson, and Hal O’Dell, and produced by Grady Saxman, the song focuses on twin brothers whose life choices take them in very different directions. Naturally, their paths eventually cross, and only one of the siblings survives their fatal encounter. But, just as naturally, there’s a twist to the tale.
“I set out to write a classic murder ballad that delves into the timeless struggle between right and wrong,” says Calloway. “This murder mystery follows twin brothers — one a deputy, the other an outlaw — on a gripping journey that builds to the ultimate showdown of good versus evil.
“I am honored that Cowboys & Indians wanted to premiere this. I don't think there could have been a better fit!”
